If I am an apartment property currently using the RUBS program, why would I want to lower my water and sewer costs if my residents are paying the bill?

A couple of things to consider…

What is the average savings per property?

We average a total 30-40% savings immediately after the program is implemented.  When we continue to monitor your property and maintain the conservation effort for prevention measures (to read more, link), the total cash increase to your pocket over time, gets awesome!

My city is offering a toilet replacement program, what should I do?

Be careful!!  Through our experience, we have found that most toilets offered in city programs are on the lower end of the value chain.  What does this mean?  You could have a worse problem on your hands after the installation of these toilets than before.  We’ve seen it time and time again.

Toilets account for roughly 25% of your water bill.  It’s important that the toilets you put on site will hold up in their environment long term.  Make sure your maintenance team knows how to fix them, the parts are not expensive to replace or find, and they are high quality.  Looking over any of these three things could result in a far worse problem.

Will my tenants complain about the low flow retrofitting and showerheads?

The showerhead only makes up about 15% of the total savings from a conservation effort.  At the end of the day, we realize that a happy resident means a happy management staff and better water bills.  If your resident doesn’t like a device being installed, they will tamper with it.  Typically this causes leaks or higher flow rates, which in turn decreases savings.  Our program and recommendations are centered on the resident’s comfort while offering better water efficiency.

How it Works – The Fun Part

At Save Water Co, we recognize three phases to water conservation.  Identify, Fix, and Prevent.

In a Nutshell ~ We audit your portfolio, come up with a plan to get the bills down, and if it qualifies for our no cost to you payment plan, we will pay for the entire implementation and share in the savings we generate to recoup our investment!

 

Identify

To understand what opportunities are available for you, we must first evaluate your property and/or portfolio.  We do this by performing a water audit of your last 12 months of historical data.  We analyze your water and sewer bills and also irrigation bills.  We perform an on-site inspection to inspect the property’s fixtures, toilets, boiler/chiller systems, irrigation systems, pools and any other areas that impact the water bill.  This process is completely FREE!  And don’t worry, we won’t take up your time with it.  All we need from you to get started is a water bill!

Prevention/Maintaining

The reality to water conservation is, that there is no one time fix all.  We wish there was!

  • Type of residents on-site – harshness of environment. Even though we use the best products on the market, the abuse they take from residents can cause leaks.

  • Scale – Yep, you heard us.
